早期療育是對發展遲緩兒童，提供治療、教育、預防及家庭支持的服務；即早期篩檢、早期發現、早期診斷，並針對其特殊需求，提供專業性的醫療、復健、照護、特教及福利服務等。
早療專業團隊包含職能治療、物理治療、語言治療，及其他如心理治療、藝術治療、音樂治療都算，加上醫師及相關人員，共同討論、轉介需要的兒童。
介入之復健治療現況，「0-6歲」為其最常服務的年紀，也是早期療育的黃金時期，「發展遲緩」為最常服務的診斷類別，但實際上發展遲緩可能細分為很多原因，例如動作發展遲緩、認知發展遲緩、語言發展遲緩等等，目前提供的療程平均約為「6~12個月」，視兒童的目標設定是否達成作為考量依據，目前每天的業務量都不一定，看不同間診所的目標及人力會有些微差別，而在今日早期療育逐漸受到重視，不管是哪種治療師，只要是專業治療師都持續在增加中。
Target population: Children with developmental delays.Applicable age: Children aged 3-6 years old.Early intervention is a service that provides treatment, education, prevention, and family support to children with developmental delays. This includes early screening, early detection, early diagnosis, and the provision of professional medical, rehabilitation, care, special education, and welfare services tailored to their special needs.
The early intervention professional team includes occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, as well as other therapies such as psychological therapy, art therapy, and music therapy. Physicians and related personnel are also involved in the team to jointly discuss and refer children in need.
Early intervention is a critical period for providing services to children with developmental delays, including treatment, education, prevention, and family support.
The most common age range served is from 0-6 years old, which is also considered the golden period for early intervention. Developmental delay is the most common diagnostic category, but it can be further subdivided into various causes such as motor, cognitive, and language delays.
Currently, the average duration of therapy provided is around 6-12 months, depending on whether the child's goals have been achieved. The daily workload varies depending on the clinic's objectives and staffing, and there has been an increase in the number of professional therapists across different fields. As early intervention continues to gain attention, the demand for professional therapists is expected to rise.
